Sarlink® TPV

A pioneer in TPV solutions, Sarlink®, has been steadily replacing thermoset rubber in sealing applications for over four decades.

Sarlink® TPVs for Industrial

Sarlink® thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) are the premier choice for industrial products that require long-term performance in harsh environments, like seals, gaskets, and industrial hose. Sarlink® TPVs have excellent resistance to flex fatigue, chemicals, and extreme temperatures, and have thus displaced thermoset rubber in industrial applications, offering better long-term aging performance and increased design flexibility. Unlike thermoset rubber, Sarlink® TPV can be co-molded or co-extruded onto a rigid part to make the ultimate seal, eliminating the need for assembly.

Sarlink 8100 Series

Sarlink 8100 Series: Extrusion Foamable TPVs

Sarlink TPVs are used extensively in sealing applications, and for lower cost, lighter weight seals, TPVs can be foamed. The Sarlink 8100 Series of TPVs are specifically formulated with optimized rheological properties for foaming. Available from 45 to 68 Shore A, these grades can be be co-extruded with other TPVs, TPOs, or PP. The Sarlink 8100 Series of TPV s offer long term sealabiltiy, low-temperature flexibility, and can be heat welded. Using either physical or chemical blowing agents, achieve up to 40% weight reduction for extruded profiles, seals and gaskets for doors and windows, drum seals, and HVAC applications.

Sarlink 4100 Series

Sarlink® 4100 Series: High Performance TPVs

These high-performance TPVs are fully cross-linked, exhibiting low tension and compression set and superior resistance to flex-fatigue. The Sarlink® 4100 series is available from 45 Shore A to 50 Shore D (in black and natural), is resistant to abrasion and chemicals, and can be processed by injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion.

Sarlink 6100 Series

Sarlink® 6100 Series: TPVs with Superior Colorability

The lighter, natural color of the Sarlink® 6100 Series allows for superior colorability versus other TPVs. These products exhibit excellent flow behavior for molding large complex parts and are non-hygroscopic, so pre-drying is unnecessary. The Sarlink® 6100 series is available from 35 to 90 Shore A (in natural only), is resistant to hydrocarbons and aqueous liquids, and exhibits good thermal stability and low fogging properties.

Sarlink R2 3100 Series

Sarlink® R2 3100B Series: TPVs with up to 40% Recycled Content

By incorporating up to 40% post-industrial recyclate (PIR), depending on hardness, the Sarlink® Rx 3100B Series promotes a circular economy and reduces reliance on virgin fossil-based resources and energy. Made with carefully-selected post-industrial recyclate (PIR), these materials process and perform similarly to their virgin counterparts, and can be used in injection molding or extrusion applications, or can be co-molded or co-extruded with polypropylene or other thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).

Applications

Seals and Gaskets

Seals and gaskets serve as junctions between two surfaces, serving to prevent the passage of fluids or protect the mating parts. In some cases seals are under pressure or repeatedly compressed and released, and it is paramount that they retain their shape and don't crack over time. Sarlink® TPVs produce high-performance seals and gaskets that stand the test of time, with excellent resistance to flex fatigue, extreme temperatures, and chemicals. Sarlink® TPVs have even replaced thermoset rubber in various sealing applications.

Sarlink® TPVs have been steadily displacing EPDM and polyisoprene in gaskets for low head pressure drainage applications, due to improved design and processing flexibility. Hard and soft versions of Sarlink® can be combined, either by injection molding or extrusion, to form a durable, weather-resistant seal for low head pressure piping. One specialty grade, Sarlink® 4155-03, meets the ASTM F477 specification for elastomeric gaskets used in joining plastic pipes in low head pressure drainage and agricultural applications.

Industrial Hose

For effective fluids management in harsh environments, industrial hoses must be chemical and abrasion-resistant, remain flexible even when exposed to extreme temperatures, and resist flex fatigue. Combining the performance characteristics of rubber with the processing ease of thermoplastics, Sarlink® TPVs are excellent candidates for industrial hose, hydraulic hose and vacuum hose, as well as hose washers and mandrels.
