HalGuard® LS HFFR Compounds

The Halguard family of low smoke, halogen-free flame retardant compounds enable compliance to IEC and UL specifications for smoke generation and flame spread as well as mechanical and environmental performance.

HalGuard® LS HFFR for Wire & Cable Applications

Halguard compounds are optimized for physical properties, flexibility, and ease of extrusion on standard PVC equipment. This makes them particularly well suited for applications in wires, cables, and cords for consumer appliances and electronics. Cables made from Halguard compounds maintain excellent optical attenuation over a broad range of temperatures and stay flexible at lower temperatures compared to most other materials.

Halguard 58000 - 58300

Halguard 58000 - 58300 Series High Performance HFFR Compounds

The halogen-free flame retardant jacketing compounds of the Halguard 58000-58300 series exhibit a higher level of flame retardance than other high-performance HFFR materials without compromising physical or electrical properties. These compounds are ideal for data center cables, control cables, energy cables, and other demanding applications where low smoke generation and minimal flame spread are key.

Halguard 58600

Halguard 58600 Series HFFR Compounds

The Halguard 58600 series features compounds for general-purpose jacketing applications, including compounds with enhanced flame retardancy as well as lower post-extrusion shrinkage. Compounds included in the 58600 series are more economical than premium compounds with minimal compromise in performance properties. They can be processed on standard extrusion equipment, and they are suitable for cable used in subway, mass transit, cell tower, data center, and infrastructure applications, as well as internal wiring in electrical and electronic equipment.

Halguard E 59000

Halguard E 59000 Series HFFR Elastomers

The Halguard E 59000 series, our most flexible LS HFFR formulations, excels in mechanical and electrical performance. With flame performance similar to that of polyolefin LS HFFR compounds and greater oil-resistance, Halguard E 59000 Series compounds exhibit lower melt viscosity and avoid the processing challenges posed by traditional compounds containing high loadings of metal hydrate fillers.

Applications

Appliance Wire

In application cord and wire applications, Halguard not only slows the spread of fire but also minimizes smoke generation ensuring smoke does not impede scape routes.

Our halogen-free TPEs are UL 62 Flexible Cord and UL 758 Appliance Wire recognized and provide oil, deformation and heat shock resistance.

Electronic Cable

For electronic cables, Halguard functions as a general flame retardant within the cable jacket. It helps prevent fire from easily spreading and protects the delicate electronic components inside the cable during a fire.

Our Halguard products are capable of enabling compliance to a variety of flame tests incuding: Riser, FT4, VW-1, and CPR Class B/C.

Fiber Optic Cable

Similar to appliance and electronic cables, Halguard in fiber optic cables works as a flame-retardant jacket, safeguarding the cable and data transmission during a fire.

Our products offer low shrinkage to maintain signal integrity and low coefficient of friction for easy installation. They're also capable of CPR Class B compliance.

Transit Cable

Flame retardant properties are crucial for safety in transportation applications because they prevent fires from spreading within vehicles like trains or buses, protecting passengers and crew.

Our Halguard products enable compliance with multiple transit agency specifications including NYCTA.
