Teknor Apex Company, an experienced supplier of engineering thermoplastic (ETP) compounds to the automotive industry, has expanded its automotive program in Europe, including the addition of dozens of polyamide (PA) formulations developed in the U.S. The company will highlight the expansion at K 2013 (Hall 06 / C54-3).
Teknor Apex supplies the European automotive market from its plant in Oldbury, UK, where it now produces the US-developed PA compounds. At the same time, the Oldbury facility continues to manufacture UK-developed PA products and other ETPs long specified by European automotive OEMs. Prior to its acquisition by Teknor Apex, the UK operation already was well known to customers in Europe under the name Chem Polymer.
Peter Verhooren, transportation market manager for the Engineering Thermoplastics Division, now heads a team of marketing, sales, and R&D experts dedicated to supporting automotive OEMs and their suppliers throughout Europe.
“Teknor Apex specializes in tailor-made solutions for specific customer needs and draws on long experience as a supplier of filled, reinforced, lubricated, toughened, and other modified formulations, as well as custom colors,” said Mr. Verhooren. “Our mission is to support customers through the entire product development phase, helping to optimize design and reduce lead times.”
Automotive compounds now available from Teknor Apex in Europe include these brands:
---Chemlon® PA 6, 6.6, and 6.12 compounds for power train, chassis, exterior, and interior components. The Chemlon® brand now applies to all PA compounds from Teknor Apex, including those previously known under the Beetle® name.
---Beetle® range of PET, PBT, and PP compounds includes products for diverse automotive applications.
A PA automotive compound being featured at K 2013 by Teknor Apex is Chemlon 104 injection molding compound (see earlier news release from Teknor Apex).
