OLDBURY, WEST MIDLANDS, UK, July 21, 2014: European plastics processors now have access to recycled polyamide compounds that come with the quality assurance of Teknor Apex Company, one of the world’s leading custom compounders and a specialist in polyamide formulations, the company announced today. Teknor Apex will feature the products at Fakuma 2014 (Hall B5, Stand 5315).
Previously sold only in the U.S., the Recyclon® family of recycled polyamide compounds are now available in Europe in a product range supported by Teknor Apex’s backward integration into the recycling process, including a consistent supply of high-quality feedstocks.
The Recyclon range of compounds includes polyamide 6 and 66 engineering thermoplastics for injection molding. Incorporating glass fiber reinforcement and performance enhancing additives, the compounds are designed to provide superior part performance in demanding end use environments. Teknor Apex can vary the percentage loadings of recycled polymer to meet customer requirements. The compounds are supplied in black color.
Potential applications range from automotive components that satisfy mandates for use of recycled material to consumer and industrial items where cost reduction is a key consideration. One recent application for a Recyclon compound is components for office furniture.
The Recyclon® family complements Teknor Apex’s long-established polyamide product range in Europe, which was recently aligned with the rest of Teknor Apex’s worldwide production under the well-respected Chemlon® brand.
“Not every polyamide application calls for the full portfolio of elevated properties provided by Chemlon compounds,” said Steven Dunn, European sales and marketing director for engineering thermoplastics. “The Recyclon product range provides a new option for balancing cost and performance, and as a custom compounder Teknor Apex is well positioned to help each customer strike the balance that precisely meets their needs.”
