At NPE Exhibit, Teknor Apex to Feature Multiple New Products for Five Major End Use Sectors

Teknor Apex Will Highlight Depth of Experience and Technical Expertise in Construction, Consumer / Industrial, Electrical / Electronics, Medical, and Transportation Markets

Teknor Apex Company, one of the world’s leading custom compounders, comes to NPE2015 following a wave of innovations that embody the company’s breadth of market experience and technical depth.

In the months leading up to NPE2015, Teknor Apex has introduced two or more widely differing new compound series for each of the following major markets: building and construction; consumer and industrial; electrical and electronics; medical devices; and transportation. The new products, which are the latest manifestations of the company’s longstanding commitment to R&D, will all be featured in an NPE exhibit organized around these markets (Booth S24055). Drawing on Teknor Apex’s formulation and processing expertise, the compounds provide solutions to persistent problems or cost-performance advantages over conventional materials.

Each of the plastics businesses of Teknor Apex focuses on a single broad polymer category—flexible and rigid PVC, thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), nylon, bioplastics, specialty compounds, and color concentrates.  The company’s experience in any given market involves multiple polymer types supplied over many years, noted William J. Murray, president.

“Companies in an industry sector come to us because of our in-depth knowledge of that sector and our ability to apply that knowledge to create custom compounds for specific requirements,” said Mr. Murray. “We have devoted decades to helping customers comply with medical regulations, electrical codes and standards, or automotive specifications, and we’re active in each of these markets with a very broad diversity of compounds. In automotive alone, we have secured many OEM approvals for nylon, TPE, and PVC products.”

The diversity of polymer chemistries with which Teknor Apex regularly works enables the company to be “polymer-neutral” in its recommendations to customers. “We are a true custom compounder in that we offer customers a real choice of cost-performance alternatives,” said Mr. Murray. “We are not wedded to a particular material stream that limits what we can recommend.”

This breadth of choice has a geographical dimension, noted Bertram M. Lederer, executive vice president. “We can compound many of our products to identical specifications in the U.S., Europe, or Asia,” Mr. Lederer said. “This capability of providing regional supplies of the same product has proven to be of great value to customers who manufacture at multiple locations around the world.”

The new compounds featured by Teknor Apex at NPE2015 are summarized in the accompanying table and are reported on in detail in separate news releases contained in the company’s NPE2015 press kit.
